Worker Wednesday- Zach Isenhour

What do you enjoy about working at Lithko? What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

Lithko allows me to own the work I produce with my team.  Lithko has developed processes to help each individual grow in their role and expand their capabilities within commercial concrete construction.  The excitement and challenges involved with building large concrete structures and how we figure out how to work together as a team from craft to client, is what motivates me to wake up and go to work.

What responsibilities did you have when you first started with Lithko? What are your responsibilities now?

When I first started at Lithko, my responsibility was to crump footings, pump water, and clean rebar.  Soon, in a Project Engineer role, I was in charge of ordering materials, reviewing shop drawings, and log keeping.  As a Project Coordinator was responsible for accurate job cost, contracts, and schedules.  Now, as an Operations Manager, I am responsible for the overall success of the project.  This involves relationships, safety, quality, and cost.

What work challenges excite you?

I am most excited about producing quality products for our customers.  Leaving quality products with our customers builds relationships.  The structures we build last a long time and leave a stamp in our communities.  Years down the road, when you drive past them, there is a sense of pride knowing that you helped build a quality structure.

What has been your favorite project?

My favorite project was the AC/RI Hotel.  Scope on the project was to build a cast in place, 18 story structure, on top of the existing Epicentre in downtown Charlotte, NC.  Unique challenges were back shoring the construction loads of the new cast in place building, concrete conveyance through an existing building, pouring full decks with self-consolidating concrete, and working around tight center city logistics.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

My wife and I have a wild little 1 year old boy.  I hope one day he likes to waterski as much as I do!
